Blaze It Up

F21 jacket (last seen here), Seduction lace top, Garage tank, Dynamite blazer (last seen here),
Joe Fresh skirt, Promise heels, Foster Grant sunnies, Suzy necklace & belt

I debated for a couple months on these heels before pulling the trigger.  However, I was planning my wedding, and the finances had to be controlled (especially towards shoe purchases!).  After the wedding though, I couldn't take it any longer, especially when they gave me the opportunity to take 25% off - don't mind if I do!  Total bonus, they are quite comfortable and easy to walk in (yessssss).

Draping

 A.Co Designs drape vest, Ardene tee, Smart Set skirt, Aldo wedges (last seen here), Suzy belt & rings, Foster Grant sunglasses, Dynamite necklace, Mexican bracelet, hubs' watch & Tiffany bracelet

I am really loving the draping trend and decided I needed more drape-styled items in my closet. What better way to do that than to make my own (drape vest). Initially I had wanted to make this out of grey jersey, but when I came up short (and the closest thing I could find was $10/metre), I had to change my plan. Since I needed three and a half metres, I wanted to keep the costs down (in case it didn't turn out). I found this really gauzy muslin which was perfect, especially at $2.50 a metre. I brought it home and got to work immediately, and this was the result, and I love it!

On another note, this was suppose to be an outfit that prevelantely outlined the look of black and navy together, however, these photos don't exactly do the colour combo justice, so, use your imagination.

* A few of you kindly pointed out I used pumpkin pie filling for my pumpkin bread/muffins and that was a total mistake!  I didn't even realize myself that that's what I had used - I meant to get pumpkin puree, not that stuff.... that combined with all that sugar (honestly, what was I thinking?!) - no wonder it tasted to good!

Red Tape

{ 'Red Tape' by Wet 'n' Wild }

I recently discovered Wet 'n' Wild's new 'Megalast' nail polish line and I have to say I'm quite impressed.  Now, you know how much I love OPI, but at $10 a bottle, you better really love that nail colour.  The secret though, is in the brush.  I've tried to convert back to cheaper polishes, but, the brushes are so skimpy that the enamel doesn't go on smoothly, takes several swipes per nail, gets bubbly, etc.  These ones from WNW have a super wide brush (just like OPI) and the polish isn't thick so it goes on nice and smooth (reminds me a bit of Zoya, which I also like).  The only downside?  This line only has about 20 colours.  I know, perhaps you are thinking, 'What? Just 20 colours?!' in a sarcastic tone, but when you own most general colours (you know, dark red, bright pink, burgundy, dark pink, etc.) from OPI, the last thing you want to do is dish our more cash for the same colour.  However, I'll take what I can get (for now) because at $2 bucks a bottle, it's a steal.

Pumpkin Bread

I decided to make pumpkin bread (my first attempt, ever) and although it didn't quite turn out great psentation wise (when I went to flip the bread out of the pan, half of it stuck in the pan, despite greasing it.  I don't think I baked it long enough, as the middle was a little gooey), it tasted so great.  I'm a huge fan of pumpkin, especially in the fall, it's so festive!  However, next time I'm going to replace all that sugar though, with apple sauce and see if it turns out as well.  Finally, there was some left over batter which I poured into my mini-muffin tins and they turned out perfectly.

 { putting our new mixer to good use - we got this for our wedding! }

Shopping Day

Ashley B jacket (last seen here), H&M top (last seen here) & tank, Seduction skirt,
Qupid boots, Le Chateau pashmina & OTK socks, Swatch watch (last seen here),
Ardene necklace & Michael Kors bracelet

Went out shopping the other day and rocked one of my new (fave) jackets. I can't get enough.  On another note, my bff was rockin' her socks above her boots alllllll last year and I tried to tweet (her) a photo of me coppin' her style, but my photos + twitter were not working for the life of me.  I decided to roll these over-the-knee socks down and keep 'em mid-knee.  The shopping trip was less than successful (just bought a couple necklaces and a couple Christmas gifts - yes, Christmas gifts) but hey, probably for the better.

Fall Scents

When the air turns crisp and the leaves start to change colour, it's a sign that fall is here.  I like to make the transition into fall by switching it up to my more 'cool-weather' perfums.  I'm always drawn to two scents:  spicy for fall/winter, and citrusy for spring/summer.  Of course there are other notes I enjoy, but the latter are often my immediates.  I also find perfume holds crazy nostalgia and sometimes, after a season of wearing a certain scent, you never want to wear it again, or, everytime you wear it, it doesn't seem right because that time in your life has past and you need something different (too deep?).  However, for me, this is my third fall and when I broke out my two fave scents, I will still as in love with them as the last two years.

Self Made

Seduction jacket (last seen here), A.Co Designs top & circle scarf (worn as a skirt) & necklace,
Aldo wedges (last seen here), Bijoux Terner bangle & Foster Grant sunnies

While driving home from lunch, we stopped at hubs' old elementary school and he started to reminisce about his childhood and what it was like going to school.  These rocks are on top of a hill, and sort of make up some of the hill.  He said in the winter, they weren't allowed to play on the rocks, but in the summer, had free reine.  It was so sweet hearing him talk about it and how the school on the other side of the rocks was their rival.  Even in elementary school they had rivals!  So cute.

In other news, I made this skirt, top and necklace... and it doesn't happen very often (or never, actually, this is the first time) that I wear an entire outfit that I made myself.  I picked up this fabric on Friday night, went home and made this circle scarf immediately.  The great thing about the circle scarf, is that you can wear it multiple ways, including a skirt (just like the shredded scarf)!

Scratchin'

Winners top (last seen here), Smart Set cami, H&M cardi (last seen here),
Zara pants (last seen here), Aldo (DIY studded) wedges
(last seen here) & Dynamite necklace

While shopping for a friend's birthday, I found this necklace and couldn't pass it up.  Of course this happens while shopping for someone else... you always find stuff you want for yourself.  Fortunately, I just kept it to one necklace and the rest was for her.

To my surprise, I came home to a hubby and best man who had set up all said best man's DJ equipment in our basement.  Hmmm.  This means we either need to plan a party or I have to listen to hubs experiment with his 'sets' on the turn tables night, after night, after night...
